The Official Blushmap

Posted to Games by Ben on March 3rd, 2009

I did this partially for my own entertainment, but mostly for those of you who want to scrutinize cartographical reference when exploring new and uncharted areas so you can exploit their vast riches. Oh, and also because there have been some arguments on whether or not the game world is big or not. Now you can immaculately measure it for yourself in the unit type of your choice!

Do with this what you will, but remember who loves you. And if you’re going to construct elaborate Blush fan fiction and use this image in the introduction to the limited edition hard cover version you inevitably make, please let us know.

  • @Catinthewall - I hope YOU'RE happy. :) And I didn't actually generate the fractal, I found an image of one I liked and then decimated it in photoshop to create a tileable image out of it. If you look closely, it's the very same fractal that's in the deep background in the actual game, too.

@BK - The sea vents were supposed to do a bunch of things that they didn't end up doing, unfortunately. One of the many victims of the 8 week blitz.

@The Entire Universe - Here are your wallpapers! http://blurst.com/blog/blush-w...

Birth. Search. Fight. Grab. Swim. Hatch. Search. Fight. Grab. Swim. Hatch. Die.

    There's your fanfiction, I hope you're happy.

I haven't gone all the way to the sides I think, but as you do it starts getting darker and your vision decreases. One time I collected a bunch of eggs and swam all the way to the "top" and it looked like fireworks went off and it collected my eggs.

Very cool, what did you use for the fractal in the background?

I've never managed to waste a valuable life exploring in this game, but how do the edges work, is it a loop around, or just an endless void? can you reach the surface, or a point where the water pressure isn't enough for our little friend?

I personally see the blush as an underwater relative of the slime mold, with the collection points a space that the eggs mature and join the communal organism. and that would make the 4 minute limit when the cells decide to go their separate ways again. It fits perfectly, if you let it.

lol the fan fiction bit made me laugh.

And Blush wallpapers would be nice
  • BK
I think it would be cool if those two underwater volcano type things at the sea floor would also be implemented as collection points.

    Blush wallpapers please!
