Blush Audio Production Begins

Posted to Games by Matthew on January 22nd, 2009

Danny B of dB Soundworks stopped by the office today to touch bases on music for Blush. Yesterday he created a great set of sample songs to draw ideas from, and today we decided which to use as the basis for the game itself. Things are sounding hot! Have a listen:

Track #1:

Track #2:

Track #3:

Track #4:

Track #5:

We like the first song, for the normal ambient background music, and fifth song as a title/theme track. What are your favorites?

I really liked the first track, a lot more than all the rest. Similar ambient tracks with not much percussions, beats etc will fit perfectly to the game's style, except if our "hero" runs around like mad, hitting and breaking stuff. :P

I really liked #3. 1 seems like it would fit well with the texture of the game, though.

I agree that track 1 is the best for the ambiet background music save for the high-pitched instrument which begins around 17 seconds. It feels too high-pitched and squealy for my tastes, especially to hear for the majority of the game. I enjoy what is going on from 10 seconds to 17 seconds of track 3 for an ambient track as well.

I fully agree with your opinoin on track 5. I have no complaints.

I'm not really feeling the rest of the music for the game, however I enjoy them for other reasons.

Track 5 is a great theme track. If track 2 had a little tighter sound with less ambient tones and a little more groove, but also more diversity from moment to moment, I think it would make for great gameplay music. Track 1 makes me feel like Link falling asleep in a meadow when it's not safe because there are bad guys around.
